Immature (second calendar year) Glaucous-winged Gull at Clover Point, Victoria BC - August 11, 2003.   The outermost primary is still an old feather, bleached and worn. The second outermost primary is short, it hasn't reached the edge of the wing yet. It is still growing.  Gulls moult primaries starting at the innermost then progressing to the outermost.  Thanks to Bruce Mactavish for his analysis of this bird.
