Identification #1-#4: Thayer's Gull adults in fairly typical plumage. #5: Glaucous-winged or possibly Glaucous-winged x Western Gull hybrid (first winter) - a very dark bird, possibly the same individual as photographed December 31, 2003. Click HERE to view that image. #6: Glaucous-winged x Western Gull hybrid (second winter). #7: Glaucous-winged Gull (adult) with slightly dark primaries. #8: Glaucous-winged x Western Gull hybrid (adult). Overall a pale Western in plumage with fairly heavy streaking on the head. #9: Glaucous-winged Gull (adult). |
