|
A ragged Northern Fulmar off Ediz Hook (Clallam County) WA -
August 1, 2003. This bird appears to have a partially deformed
bill with missing or reduced tubenares. It is a bleached,
one-year-old dark-morph bird having just begun the 2nd prebasic molt
(head feathers and primaries 1-4 new or being replaced). Thanks to
all who have sent in comments on the identification of this individual.
Particular appreciation goes to Peter Pyle for his analysis of the
plumage as detailed above. |
