Pacific Golden-Plover at near Amakapa Pond, Hawaii, HI - March 21, 1997.
© Bill Walker.  This bird is well into its prealternate moult.  Pacific Golden-Plovers moult earlier than American Golden-Plovers and are usually close to full breeding plumage when they migrate north.   Note the long tertials (near tail tip) and primary projection shorter than bill length.
