  Anna's Hummingbird Identification:
  • Medium-sized hummer, with an overall dark appearance.  In good light, the back is bright green and the underparts are dingy gray
  • Broad tail is green with white tips to most of the tail feathers
  • Adult male has an iridescent rose-colored crown and gorget, and a partial pale eye-ring
  • Female has an overall dusky appearance

Anna's Hummingbird Distribution:
The Anna's Hummingbird is a fairly common, mainly resident species, with its normal range extending from extreme southwestern British Columbia to northwestern Mexico.  Tends to wander eastward less than Selasphorus hummers, but has been recorded in many central and eastern states.  Sources for more distributional information include:
