| Rarely birded as with most northern Vancouver Island spots, the Nimpkish River Estuary holds great promise. Visits during migration have produced moderate numbers of shorebirds and gulls. A goodly selection of waterfowl and seabirds are present much of the year. Currently best accessed via a short dirt road, the heads north just east and opposite the parking lot for the Forestry Discovery Centre (intersection of Highway 19 and the Beaver Cover Road). Rubber boots recommended for walking in the intertidal zone here. Rocks and seaweed are slippery - caution advised. | ||||||||||||||
